Capturing Precious Moments with Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery

In the winter of 2012, Bija Bijoux had the pleasure of discovering an ingenious new line of jewellery by the name of Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery.  What differentiates Dimples from other fingerprint jewellery lines?  The fact that the exact impression tray touched during the impression process is what gets made into your jewellery.  No casts, no molds, no digital copies.  The person whose fingerprint impression is being taken is the sole artist of the charm that gets created. Your Dimples charm is the very material your loved one touches. That’s a pretty special keepsake to treasure forever!

How Does Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery Work

So, how exactly does the process work? The individual whose fingerprint you would like to be made into a charm needs to come in to Bija Bijoux to have their impression taken. We are often asked if it’s necessary for the individual have their impression taken in person at Bija Bijoux.  It’s highly preferable. The reason being, that the staff at Bija Bijoux are fully trained and skilled in taking the impressions.  Remember, the impression we take is made of sterling silver, and if its deemed unacceptable (wether the impression is not deep enough, not complete, or smudged), it would need to be taken all over again.  We are qualified to ensure that the impression is deep enough for the lines in the finger to be apparent.  This might seem like a simple task, but in reality it takes a confident and sure hand to know just how far is far enough to get a correct Dimples impression that will produce a beautiful finished product. Of course, things can happen sometimes that are beyond our control.  Once the Dimples impression tray leaves Bija Bijoux, it undergoes a hardening process at Dimples Headquarters in Uxbridge, ON.  Very rarely, the sterling silver is found to be too dry, and another impression needs to be taken. (At no charge to the customer, of course.)  All that to say, that the chances for a successful impression are much greater when they are taken by fully-trained staff. If there are extenuating circumstances, it is possible to purchase the charm/s from Bija Bijoux, and take them yourself.  We give you a mini-tutorial on how to take a successful impression, using practice trays as example tries.  There are sometimes unavoidable life circumstances that prevent people from being able to take the impression at our shop.

Impression in Sterling Silver

One thing that often baffles people about Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery, is how in the world it is possible to obtain an impression in sterling silver? Is it hot, they wonder? Good question. The answer is an interesting one, and speaks to the creativity of the owners and creators of Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery. The Dimples Impressions trays are in fact room-temperature sterling silver, slightly smaller than the size of a nickel. The impression tray itself, is malleable enough to take an impression without any preamble process. This is because the creator of Dimples worked with a mechanical engineer to create a patent on a malleable form of sterling silver that could function perfectly as a material to take fingerprint charms. Quite clever! After all, nothing is more special than a fingerprint charm that your own loved one made, and that can be passed down through the generations.

The notion of capturing a precious moment in time with a Dimples Fingerprint charm, is a wonderful way to allow you to wear it wherever you go.  In essence, it’s “Mom”, “Dad”, and “Grandparent” jewellery that doesn’t go around screaming it to the world.  From a distance, all you see is a beautiful sterling silver charm, wether it be on a necklace, on a bracelet, or a pair of cufflinks.  When you are closer, it becomes apparent that there’s more to it than first meets the eye.  The beautiful swirls in everyone’s unique fingerprint is pleasing to the eye, even to someone who is merely observing a Dimples charm that has no sentimental significance to that person.  However, to the owner of a Dimples charm, there is no mistaking the unique and unforgettable impression that was left on their jewellery by a loved one. On the back of your Dimples charm, the name and birthdate of your loved one is engraved.  However, you can choose to have just the name, and whatever else engraved on the back as well. For examples, instead of Kathryn, 10-13-13, you could have Kathryn, 3 months, instead. There are two lines of space to play with. Kathryn, Oct.13, 2013 would work as well.

The Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery line makes a fantastic gift during all walks of life.  There is no age limit at which an impression cannot be taken. As children get older, we just use the pinky finger.  When they’re smaller, we take the thumb or index finger.  For adults, we automatically take the pinky finger. If you’re unsure as to wether your child is too old or young to have their impression taken, don’t be! It’s a special charm, regardless of age, and the staff at Bija Bijoux and Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery are trained in the art of making precious memories.  New owners of Dimples Fingerprint charms are often overcome with emotion at the sight of their completed loved one’s fingerprint.  It’s a beautiful way to keep someone you love near you, always. So if you’re looking for the perfect gift idea, wether it be Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, or plain old any day, Dimples Fingerprint Jewellery at Bija Bijoux has you covered. Go on, make a lasting impression!
