Colour Cravings

Colour Cravings

Just like food cravings, colour cravings can be hard to ignore.

Having owned several retail stores,  all with a strong focus on fashion and style trends, I couldn’t help but notice that we all begin to desire the same colours and styles at roughly the same times.  My job was, and still is, to try to be one step ahead so that I can provide what people are looking for when they are looking for it.

The Spring Summer colour trends for 2018 are many, but I’m only going to explore here the one colour I’ve personally been craving the most:  RED.

Red is a bold, attention getting colour and I’ve spotted it everywhere this Spring Summer 2018.  It’s popping up on runways and home decor alike.  I love it.

Red can be worn so many ways that it’s almost a neutral.  Even better, a little red t-shirt top looks fresh with the bottom basics we already own: white linen, black wide legs, classic blue jeans or army green joggers.  I styled my little red top with touches of yellow, including my Sunshine Tassel Earrings – Smoke.  Maybe I was inspired by this little Astrid sofa in Merlot?

Here are some pictures I’ve pulled  from some clothing and fashion sites, featuring other little red tops  RED with basic bottoms.

(Aritzia – white and black pants and Anthropologie – army green joggers)

The red I’ve been seeing in home decor is equally plentiful. Benjamin Moore has called Caliente AF – 290 one of its colours of the Year for 2018 (seen in the images below).

Of note, the same accent colours combine beautifully: white, black, blue and earth tones.

I’m not sure I’d commit to red walls, or a new red chair (yet), but I can definitely get my head around a indulging into a red t-shirt or top to satisfy my colour cravings of the moment.
