Layering Like a Pro
Lately I prefer to wear a stack of delicate rings, necklaces or rings instead of just one large piece. When paired properly, layering and stacking your jewelry creates a statement unique to you.
Many of the talented Canadian jewelry designers we represent at Bija Bijoux are creating necklaces, bracelets and rings created specifically for this style of wear. Though each jewelry item is lovely on its own, it is equally lovely layered or stacked.
This beautiful foursome of necklaces (below) designed by Melanie Auld and Cara McLeay is a perfect example of layering necklaces. They are delicate and synchronized without looking “matchy”. From top to bottom: Single Triangle Necklace, Multi Triangle Necklace, Delicate Bar Necklace, Lariat Disc Necklace. All available for purchase on our website bija-bijoux.com or in our shop.
Below is a nice mix of layered bracelets made and designed by Leah Alexandra. Again, any one of these can be worn alone but when layered and stacked they say more. These gorgeous green onyx and gold bracelets are also available at Bija. Here is a list from hand to arm: Sydney, Fling, Bar, Sydney, Gem
1. Mix metals and textures. Your stack should feel personal to you. Sterling silver looks amazing with brushed yellow gold and yellow gold looks great with rose gold .. get creative!
2. Mix your olds with a new. Perhaps you already own a lovely delicate gold 16″ necklace that sits around your collarbone area. Consider purchasing another necklace a little longer (18″-30″) so you can create your own layered necklace look.
3. Balance. If you have a statement ring that gets daily wear, try wearing a dainty knuckle ring on the finger two over from it, leaving the finger in between them bare.
4. Tell a Story. Create your own talisman with a secret significance for you. Wear one item that signifies the birth of a child, or a special anniversary, the next with a good luck symbol, the following a birthstone. Each time you wear your own special story you will feel its meaning while wearing a stylish layered look.
Layering is about having fun with your jewelry and creating a look unique to you.
