Spring 2015 Colour Trend: Marsala

Spring 2015 Colour Trend:  Marsala

The Pantone Spring 2015 forecast has been announced and one of the winning colours is Marsala.  Marsala, like the fortified Sicilian red wine it is named after, is a rich earthy red tone with burnished undertones.  This gorgeous colour pairs well with neutrals such as varying shades of gray and warm taupes.  It also mixes beautifully with ambers, golden yellows, and greens in both the turquoise and teal hues.  Easy to see how this colour could work its way into your jewelry wardrobe and feel right at home.

Marsala is an elegant, rich shade reminiscent of deep garnet, ruby and tourmaline and jasper gemstones.  Hilary Druxman, a Canadian Jewelry Designer carried at Bija Bijoux created the Red Jasper Trio bracelet, featuring red jasper in varying cuts and shapes of beads.  This bracelet is a great example of one of the more earthy leanings of this sultry colour. Red Jasper Trio of Bracelets New bespoke jewelry brand Chrysalis features sparkling Garnet Crystal Expandable Bantgle in their Good Fortune Collection.  These shades of deep red exhibit the more fiery side of Pantone’s Marsala.  The birthstone for the month of January is Garnet, and the crystals in this bracelet reflect the natural beauty of the garnet exactly. And let’s not overlook the Posy Asymmetrical Necklace, which does not feature any natural stone but instead a swatch of fabric meticulously placed beneath crystal, then set into a detailed and ornate work of wearable art.  This necklace, by Ayala Bar, a Tel Aviv artist and jewelry designer features the colour Marsala mixed with chocolate brown, hints of aqua, green and shades of ballet pink.  All of these colours pair gorgeously together and end up creating a vintage looking, playful statement necklace.
